Demonstration in Los Angeles in Honor of July 9th Uprising and Opposition to War in Iran

Dear Compatriots,

Once again we are near the anniversary of the July 9th Student Uprising, an uprising self-formulated seven years ago that finally manifested an encaged national will.

In that year, the theocratic regime in absolute fear of defeat and overthrow pressed violence and suppression against the students and freedom activists alike.

Seven years has gone since the heartbreaking tragedy when armed Islamic forces united under a terrorist regime violently invaded the student dormitory and brutally wounded the innocent students as hundreds were injured and over a thousand arrested.

Alas, seven years from this eternal epic poem and twenty-seven years since the establishment of the torturous Islamic Republic has passed.

Throughout these past years the Student Movement of Iran, which demands a secular and democratic government based on justice and the national interest, has suffered excessive loss in opposition to the current dictatorship.

In addition, events and occurrences within countries neighboring Iran, which dealt with destructive war and foreign occupation, has cautiously uprooted the national will and determination by means of the student, freedom and patriotic movement, such that the Iranian people are determined to overthrow this regime not by foreign intervention however by the hands of the people and once and for all complete the 100-year-old dream of freedom and patriotic rule founded during the Constitutional Revolution.

All through this tense and dangerous era of war and foreign occupation, this independent freedom movement acknowledges its patriotic and humane duty to voice its opposition to war and any form of foreign occupation and its heated support for the people’s movement towards the overthrow of the tyrannical Islamic Republic. The fate of the Iranian nation shall rest only in the hands of the Iranian people.
