The Frightening Conditions for Political Prisoners in Iran (Part VIII)
(Continuation from Part VII)
22) Fariborz Mahmoudi, sentenced to lifetime imprisonment, has undergone 10 years so far.
23) Mohammad Mahmoudnia, sentenced to 14 years imprisonment, has undergone 12 years so far.
24) Mohammadi Veisi was executed last year in Kermanshah.
25) Alireza Shariatpanahi, sentenced to 4 years imprisonment, suffers from much pain, and has been subjected to cruel torture. For more than four months ago, he was been held captive in solitary confinement.
26) Ebrahim Momeni has undergone more than ten months of solitary confinement in cell 59. He has suffered extreme torture, while suffering from back injuries.
27) Abd’.. Amini, member of the Kurdish Democratic Party, has suffered more than 7 years of harsh captivity (while never had been sentenced) in prison. He has undergone 2 years of imprisonment in Evin prison unit 3, which is suited for murderers or other harsh criminals.
28) Hashem Shahinnia has been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment.
29) Hamid Jaffari and Mahmoud Mojhdehi, students from Rajayi University, had undergone one and a half year imprisonment in Evin prison for publishing their written articles on campus newspapers. Both have been held captive in solitary confinement for 5 months at unit 209, and 7 months captivity in public prison 209. Both, while being held captive together in solitary confinement, were not allowed to speak to one another for two months. In mid-2002, these two students were freed.
30) Abbas Nedayi and Mohammad Nedayi, this father son alongside the mother of the family have undergone more than two years of imprisonment at Evin prison, in which most recently were freed. All their assets and personal belongings were taken away. The son of the
family died in a dispute with the regime.
31) Saeed Hedayati has been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and 15 years in exile on the islands of the Persian Gulf.
32) Jamshid Amiri, who after suffering 1-year imprisonment at Evin, was freed. His mother was held in solitary confinement in a neighboring cell, so in result Jamshid heard his mother’s voice of cry while his mother suffered agonizing psychological torture. His father was transferred from Evin to Rajayi due to the various illnesses he had found from the mounting pressures placed on him; Jamshid’s father died in the city of Rajayi.
33) Dr. Naser Zarafshan, lawyer from the chain murder trials, has been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and 50 slashes. He is resisting the charges against him, and refuses to surrender.
