The Frightening Conditions for Political Prisoners in Iran (Part VII)
(Continuation from Part VI)
12) Reza Malak, writer of a 75 page letter in regards to the chain murders and crimes committed by the regime. He had been condemned to 12 years imprisonment, 2 years of which he has undergone in solitary confinement. He has been subjected to intense physical torture and injection of nerve-killers. The courts have issued a forceful divorce for Mr. Malak and his wife. The regime is not willing to transfer him to prison 209, the section for political prisoners.
13) Fazel Sabet, sentenced to 2 years imprisonment and 3 years suspension, has undergone severe physical torture by cables and suspended in air from the ceiling with his hands chained behind the back. These tortures have resulted in renal damage and urinal bleeding. He is not willing to surrender to authorities. His father, Mohammad Sabet, was a member of the nationalist front who was assassinated by Islamic agents in 1981.
14) Abbas Deldar, prisoner from the July 1999 unrest, was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. His original sentence was death. Both his kidneys are terribly damaged, and the regime controls his bodily system.
15) Mehdi Sanjari Baf (Kianoosh) was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. To this date, he has undergone 49 days in solitary confinement in unit 59. Kianoosh, at the age of 20, is the youngest political prisoner.
16) Rouh.. Kabiri and Mohammad Mehrabanpour were both sentenced to 10 years imprisonment at Minab prison. Both have undergone 1-year of solitary confinement and 1-year captivity at Evin. Recently, both were transferred from Evin to Minab prison. Their 2 years in Evin prison was not counted as part of their sentence.
17) Afshin Bayemani was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment. His original sentence was death. To this date, he has undergone 1 year in solitary confinement. In a dispute with the regime, his brother tragically died.
18) Dr. Farzad Hamidi, speaker of the National Union, was sentenced to 1-year imprisonment and 2 years suspension. He had undergone 2 months of solitary confinement in cell 209. He suffered broken ribs during his torture. He refuses to surrender. Recently, after 1-year of imprisonment he was freed from Evin prison.
19) Mehdi Fardkohan was sentenced to 4-years imprisonment, 2 months of which was in solitary confinement. Agents of the regime killed his 22-year-old brother.
20) Omid Abbasgholinejad was sentenced to 3-years imprisonment, 2 months of which was in solitary confinement.
21) Mehrdad Lohrasbi, prisoner from the July 1999 unrest, was sentenced to 15-years imprisonment. His original sentence was death. In objection to the inhuman like behavior of the regime, he went on hunger strike for a period of 29 days.
